Overview 2024 Nissan Z
The Nissan Z has a rich history that dates back to the iconic Datsun 240Z from the 1970s. Over the years, it has evolved and gained a dedicated fan base worldwide. Now, in 2024, Nissan has introduced the next generation of the Z, aiming to blend modern technology with the timeless spirit of the original. Let’s find out how well they’ve succeeded.
The Nissan Z is a spirited sports coupe with an impressive legacy of providing affordable and enjoyable two-door cars since 1969. Utilizing elements of nostalgia, such as the quarter-panel emblem from the 240Z and a pair of striking LED taillights that pay homage to the style of the 300ZX from the 1990s, the new Z prioritizes power and driving enjoyment. While it borrows its 400-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine from the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, the Z can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.
However, if you desire the NISMO Z treatment, which includes 420 horsepower and other performance enhancements, it is exclusively available with a nine-speed automatic. Although the new Z retains many of the components and structure from the previous-generation 370Z, its interior provides a more luxurious experience with improved seats, a wider infotainment screen, and a telescoping steering wheel. While it may not deliver the same level of excitement as the Toyota Supra when pushed to its limits, the Z still offers an exhilarating driving experience, and we are grateful to see its return to the sports car segment.
The Z made its highly anticipated return last year. In 2024, the iconic rear-wheel drive coupe is set to raise the stakes with a performance-oriented NISMO model. The Z NISMO will boast more power, with 420 horsepower (an increase from the standard output of 400), and 384 pound-feet of torque (up from 350 pound-feet on standard models). It will also feature a limited-slip differential, larger wheels, bigger brakes, a stiffer suspension, and more elaborate bodywork.
Design of the 2024 Nissan Z
The design of the 2024 Nissan Z pays homage to its predecessors while incorporating modern aesthetics. The sleek and muscular lines flow seamlessly from front to back, creating a sense of power and speed. The iconic long hood and short rear deck are still present, giving it that classic sports car silhouette. LED headlights and taillights add a touch of modernity, while the wide grille showcases its aggressive nature.
The customized version of the 2024 Nissan Z brings characteristic classic lines; makes the car more outstanding and unique. A split grille with “Fairlady Z” emblem, redesigned front bumper and carbon fiber rear spoiler are among the added details. More expensive car set, copied exactly from the Fairlady Z custom Proto at Tokyo Auto Salon; complemented by exclusive 19-inch wheels; hood decals, side stickers and individual emblems. These changes create a unique sharpness and personality for the Nissan Z 2024.
Performance of the 2024 Nissan Z
When it comes to performance, the 2024 Nissan Z does not disappoint. Under the hood, you’ll find a potent twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces an exhilarating amount of power. With its rear-wheel-drive setup, the Z delivers exceptional handling and precise steering, making it a joy to drive on both city streets and winding roads. The inclusion of an advanced suspension system ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, even during spirited driving.
Like its powerful counterpart, the Nissan GT-R, the Z is equipped with a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. However, instead of the high-performance 565-hp 3.8-liter engine found in the GT-R, the Z features a 400-hp 3.0-liter engine sourced from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400, along with 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission. While the turbocharged six-cylinder engine provides the rear-wheel-drive Z with impressive acceleration, our manual-transmission test car took 4.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, which considerably slower than Supra.
With the nine-speed automatic, we were able to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds. The Z offers ample grip when cornering, as long as you don’t approach its limits. However, if pushed too hard, the suspension tuning reveals its limitations. While it provides a comfortable ride for daily commuting, other rival sports cars offer more precise handling. We haven’t yet tested the Z NISMO, but it boasts an increased power output of 420 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the NISMO model features larger brake discs, a stiffer suspension, and improved chassis rigidity. Nissan has also swapped out the Bridgestone Potenza S007 summer tires for Dunlop Sport MAXX GT600 tires on the NISMO variant.
According to the EPA, the most efficient Z is the one with the automatic transmission. It is rated for 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Opting for the manual transmission lowers these numbers to 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Despite its additional horsepower and weight, the 420-hp Z NISMO is not significantly different from the standard Z in terms of fuel efficiency, with EPA-estimated ratings of 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Once we have the opportunity, we will test the Z on our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route and update this article with the results. For more information about the Z’s fuel economy, please visit the EPA’s website.

Technology of the 2024 Nissan Z
Nissan has equipped the 2024 Z with an array of advanced technologies to enhance the driving experience. The centerpiece of the interior is a large touchscreen infotainment system that offers seamless connectivity and access to various features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration come standard, allowing drivers to easily integrate their smartphones. Additionally, the Z offers a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.
Nissan has updated the Z for the twenty-first century by including a standard 8.0-inch infotainment display (with an optional 9.0-inch unit that includes navigation), a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The standard configuration includes a six-speaker stereo, but audiophiles can choose to upgrade to an optional premium audio system engineered by Bose. Additionally, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot is available.
Interior Comfort and Space of the 2024 Nissan Z
Step inside the 2024 Nissan Z, and you’ll be greeted by a driver-focused cockpit designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The seats are supportive and bolstered to keep you secure during spirited driving. The use of high-quality materials gives the cabin a premium feel, while ergonomic controls ensure easy access to essential functions. Despite its sporty nature, the Z still manages to provide ample legroom and headroom, making it suitable for daily commuting or weekend getaways.
Although this generation may look different from the last one, it is not entirely different. For instance, the layout of the Z’s cabin has not been changed by Nissan. It still remains a two-seat coupe without any vestigial rear seats like the Porsche 911. However, everything else has undergone changes. The new Z now features a modernized cabin with updated materials, which is a significant improvement over the outdated interior of the previous 370Z. Leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control are all available options. As for cargo space, it remains unknown, but we do not expect the Z to be a champion in terms of transporting goods from Costco. In the trunk of the old 370Z, we managed to fit three carry-on suitcases, which should be sufficient for most sports car buyers.

The pricing remains the same regardless of the transmission chosen, but for the sake of excitement, we would opt for the six-speed manual transmission.
