The first electric car from the Huawei Chery joint venture has a starting price of $27,800 USD.
The new electric car model will come with Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4 software and the intelligent driving system ADS 2.0, starting at a price of 27,800 USD.
In August, a new electric car from China will be unveiled, the first product of the joint venture between telecommunications company Huawei and car manufacturer Chery.
Over the past two years, telecommunications technology company Huawei has established joint ventures with three car manufacturers to leverage the HarmonyOS operating system in cars.
The car, with the codename EH3 and expected commercial name Luxeed EV, has been teased with images on social media before its official launch in a few weeks.
The image was shared on the social media platform Weibo by Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s smart car solutions division. This model car features modern styling, such as a wide, slim full-LED light bar at the front and no radiator grille. Sources confirm that Luxeed will be the first car to run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4 operating system, which means it will have a host of advanced connectivity features, especially when combined with Huawei products such as smartphones and smartwatches. Luxeed will use CATL batteries for a range of approximately 700 km (435 miles) and will have a dual-motor electric drivetrain. In terms of safety, this model will have Huawei’s new ADS 2.0 intelligent driving system, which uses a LiDAR mounted on the roof, 11 high-resolution cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 3-millimeter wave radars, enabling advanced level three autonomous driving capabilities. It is likely that Luxeed EV will be unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 25th with a starting price of around 200,000 Chinese yuan (approximately $27,800 USD). Its main competitor will be the American electric car, Tesla Model 3.
