Overview 2024 Toyota Venza
The Toyota Venza excels in terms of efficiency and features, but falls short when it comes to matching the utility and spaciousness of other offerings in the competitive mid-size two-row SUV class. Its efficiency is achieved through a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors.
This setup not only provides standard all-wheel drive, but also offers better fuel economy compared to rivals like the V-6-powered Honda Passport and Nissan Murano. However, the Venza prioritizes a feature-packed cabin designed for commuting rather than off-road adventures.
For instance, it boasts an available panoramic sunroof that can be adjusted from transparent to opaque with the touch of a button. Unfortunately, its RAV4 Hybrid-based platform limits its interior space and cargo area in comparison to most other crossovers in the mid-size segment. Additionally, the Venza faces stiff competition from both hybrid and nonhybrid models, including Toyota’s own RAV4 and Lexus NX350h. As a result, the Venza remains an outlier in the segment, offering a stylish but smaller and less practical alternative.
Design and Exterior of the 2024 Toyota Venza
The 2024 Toyota Venza boasts a sleek and sophisticated exterior design that turns heads wherever it goes. The bold front grille, accompanied by stylish LED headlights, gives the Venza an aggressive yet elegant look. The aerodynamic body lines and sculpted profile contribute to its modern and luxurious appeal. With its striking design, the Venza effortlessly stands out in a sea of crossovers.
Toyota has just announced the detailed selling price for Venza 2024 in the US market with a starting price of 34,920 USD, an increase of 300 USD compared to its predecessor (price does not include shipping fees). The 2024 LE base version is equipped with LED lighting system, privacy glass, hands-free electric tailgate and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Interior Comfort and Space of the 2024 Toyota Venza
Step inside the 2024 Toyota Venza, and you’ll be welcomed by a spacious and comfortable cabin. The premium materials used throughout the interior create a sense of luxury and refinement. The seats are plush and supportive, ensuring a comfortable ride even on long journeys. With ample headroom and legroom in both the front and rear seats, passengers can stretch out and relax. Additionally, the Venza offers generous cargo space, making it perfect for hauling groceries, luggage, or other items.
Given that the Venza shares the RAV4 Hybrid’s 105.9-inch wheelbase but is approximately half a foot longer overall, we anticipated that Toyota would be able to create additional interior space in the Venza. Unfortunately, passenger volume remains almost the same, with the Venza losing a few tenths of an inch in hip and shoulder room.
Cargo space is also not as generous, as the Venza only offers 29 cubic feet of volume behind the second row compared to the RAV4 Hybrid’s 38 cubic feet. In our testing at C/D, we were able to fit seven carry-on suitcases behind the rear seat and a total of 18 with the rear seats folded, while the RAV4 could accommodate 10 and 22 respectively.
Notably, the Venza does come equipped with Toyota’s electrochromic panoramic sunroof, known as “Star Gaze” in Toyota’s own words. Despite its name, it is an impressive feature as the sunroof’s glass panels can switch from transparent to opaque with the push of a button. This is a feature that, until now, we have only encountered in luxury cars such as the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class.

Performance and Efficiency of the 2024 Toyota Venza
Under the hood, the 2024 Toyota Venza is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors. This setup delivers a total output of 219 horsepower, providing ample power for daily commuting and highway driving.
The hybrid system also ensures impressive fuel efficiency, with an estimated EPA rating of 40 mpg combined. This eco-friendly performance makes the Venza an ideal choice for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing power.
The Venza is available only as a hybrid. Its powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and three electric motors, generating a combined 219 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard: one of the electric motors powers the rear wheels, while the gasoline engine and the other two motors drive the front wheels. The Venza is a traditional hybrid and does not offer plug-in capability.
During our test drive, we found the Venza to be lacking in terms of driving dynamics, and we were disappointed that it did not provide the smooth ride we had expected. Its acceleration at our test track was also mediocre, taking 7.6 seconds to reach 60 mph, which is 1.5 seconds slower than the Passport’s pace.
The Venza is rated by the EPA to return 40 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. These figures are impressive for the segment, as they are nearly double the ratings of other two-row mid-size SUVs like the Passport and the Ford Edge. It is not surprising that the Venza’s fuel economy numbers are within 1 mpg of the EPA ratings for its RAV4 Hybrid and Lexus NX 350h siblings, as they share the same platform. During our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, we achieved a recorded 36 mpg. For more information about the Venza’s fuel economy, please visit the EPA’s website.

All Venza models are equipped with all-wheel drive and Toyota Safety Sense as standard. These additional features justify the $4000 price increase from the LE to the XLE. For an extra cost of around $1100, the Nightshade edition offers the XLE model with black styling accents.
