Overview 2024 Jeep Gladiator
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator has redefined the concept of a pickup truck, blending the iconic Jeep design with the versatility of a truck bed. It’s no surprise that this vehicle has captured the imagination of off-road enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. In this review, we’ll take an in-depth look at what makes the 2024 Jeep Gladiator stand out from the crowd.
The Jeep Gladiator is the result of attaching a pickup truck bed to the back of a four-door Wrangler. The outcome is a mid-size pickup that is fun to drive off-road. The Gladiator doesn’t take life too seriously, as evidenced by its removable top and doors, and fold-down windshield. Its rugged nature makes it less smooth to drive on paved roads compared to more refined mid-size pickups like the Chevy Colorado or Honda Ridgeline, but its four-wheel drive system and suspension are designed for off-road durability.
The Gladiator, along with the Toyota Tacoma, is one of the only pickup trucks to offer a six-speed manual transmission; otherwise, an eight-speed automatic shifts automatically. The Gladiator is powered by a 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6, which is less potent than many of the newer and more modern options available.
It’s not obvious, but Jeep has refreshed the Gladiator for 2024 and made some equipment changes. Following the Wrangler’s refresh earlier this year, the Gladiator gets a rounder grille, making it look nearly as cute as the compact Jeep Renegade. The diesel V-6 is no longer offered, leaving the gas 3.6-liter V-6 as the only engine. There’s also a massive 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen inside, which the Gladiator didn’t offer before, and it comes standard even on the base Sport trim level. Jeep has also added new wheel designs and a windshield-integrated antenna. Anvil is a new paint option for 2024. Jeep also adds Mojave X and Rubicon X, which offer additional equipment from their existing trims, in the form of steel bumpers and 12-way power-adjustable leather seats. Side curtain airbags for front and rear passengers are also added as standard equipment in 2024.
Design and Exterior of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator boasts a rugged and unmistakable design that pays homage to its Jeep heritage. From the iconic seven-slot grille to the bold, muscular lines, every element of the exterior exudes strength and capability. The available removable top and doors offer a true open-air driving experience, perfect for those who crave adventure. Whether you opt for the Sport, Overland, or Rubicon trim, each variant showcases unique design elements that cater to different preferences and driving needs.
The Jeep Gladiator is basically the Jeep Wrangler, only with a longer wheelbase and a cargo box. Earlier this year, the Wrangler received a facelift, highlighted by a new-style grille and dashboard design. That’s why the Gladiator truck also inherits these things.
The 2024 Gladiator has a new grille design with 7 signature Jeep air vents, creating a thinner feel and improving engine cooling. Jeep has stopped using the V6 Diesel engine, so there is only a V6 gasoline engine that produces 285 horsepower. In the future, Gladiator will improve power thanks to the addition of Jeep’s 4xe plug-in-hybrid system.
In addition to aesthetics, Gladiator 2024 also has small improvements that are highly appreciated by users. Typically, the antenna is integrated into the windshield, because old antennas often get caught in tree branches when the car moves on trails or can be damaged when the owner takes the car for an auto wash.
There are 7 new wheel design options for Gladiator 2024. For the Sport version, the soft top will be standard equipment.
Interior Comfort and Features of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
Step inside the 2024 Jeep Gladiator, and you’re greeted with a blend of comfort and functionality. The spacious cabin accommodates both driver and passengers with ample legroom and headroom. High-quality materials and thoughtful design details elevate the interior, ensuring a premium experience on every journey. The latest infotainment system seamlessly integrates with modern connectivity features, keeping you informed and entertained as you conquer both city streets and rugged trails.
Jeep has also improved the Gladiator’s dashboard. Not only is there an additional horizontal air vent below the entertainment screen, there are also soft materials.
Jeep lovers all know that the brand loves “Easter eggs” and the Gladiator has added many signs at the 4 corners symbolizing the 4 points of the compass. Above the control panel there is a bracket for attaching accessories.
The Gladiator Mojave version is also upgraded with a new steering wheel with stitching, and the front seats are also electrically adjustable.
The highlight in the interior of the Gladiator 2024 is the 12.3-inch touch entertainment screen cluster. Large screens are standard equipment on all versions, replacing the 7 and 8.4 inch screens of the previous generation.
The UConnect5 entertainment screen is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In particular, voice commands are possible and the screen’s background panel is optimized, allowing clear visibility when direct light shines, especially when the car roof is removed.
Jeep Gladiator 2024 upgraded version: High-end off-road pickup truck
Similar to the 2024 Wrangler, the new upgraded Gladiator also offers a Jeep Adventure Guide, which details 62 trails through a navigation system with a “Follow Model” that provides information. about routes and waypoints in real time.
Performance and Capability of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
Underneath the hood, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator houses a range of powerful engine options, delivering impressive performance both on and off the road. Whether you choose the efficient V6 engine or the torquey diesel powertrain, the Gladiator effortlessly combines towing capability with smooth, responsive driving dynamics. Thanks to its robust chassis and advanced suspension systems, this pickup truck excels in traversing challenging terrain while maintaining composed handling on paved surfaces.
The Gladiator is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, routed through a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic. We tested an Overland model with the automatic, which took 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph. In other words, it’s slightly slower than most competitors. Every Gladiator comes with a 5.5-foot truck bed. Compared with the regular Wrangler, the Gladiator has an extra 19.4 inches between the front and rear wheels, which Jeep says helps improve the pickup’s ride and handling.
Now that we’ve driven several examples, we can confirm that it drives much like the Wrangler. On paved roads, the truck’s steering lacks precision, and the ride can be busy on uneven surfaces. Still, these characteristics are part of the formula that makes the Gladiator both a legitimate pickup truck and a trail-ready tool. Enthusiasts care more about the truck’s available off-road equipment, which includes everything from copious skid plates to rock-crawling axle ratios to the ability to ford up to 30 inches of water. Generous ground clearance and approach/departure angles further help the Gladiator conquer unknown terrains.
Gladiator models equipped with the standard manual transmission are rated at 16 mpg city and 23 highway. The automatic gearbox increases its estimated city mpg to 17 and drops its highway figure to 22 mpg. We’ve tested a few different versions of the Gladiator with an automatic transmission on our 75-mph highway route, which helps us evaluate real-world fuel economy. The Overland model was the most efficient version, returning 21 mpg on the highway, but the Mojave returned a much lower 15 mpg. However, the latter was equipped with bigger tires and a higher rear axle ratio than the Overland (4.10 versus 3.73). For more information about the Gladiator’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
Off-Road Prowess of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
True to its Jeep heritage, the 2024 Gladiator is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to off-road adventures. The available 4×4 systems, locking differentials, and impressive ground clearance empower drivers to tackle the toughest trails with confidence. Furthermore, the rugged underbody protection ensures that the Gladiator can conquer obstacles without hesitation, making it a top choice for off-road enthusiasts seeking unmatched capability.
When properly equipped, the Gladiator can tow an impressive 7700 pounds. Even the weakest version can pull a 4000-pound trailer. For comparison, the Wrangler is only rated to tow up to 3500 pounds. Those looking to load up the Gladiator’s cargo bed can carry between 1105 and 1700 pounds of payload.
Safety and Technology of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
Safety is paramount in the 2024 Jeep Gladiator, with a suite of advanced driver-assist features providing peace of mind on every drive. From adaptive cruise control to blind-spot monitoring, these technologies work harmoniously to enhance awareness and mitigate potential hazards. Additionally, the integration of modern conveniences such as smartphone connectivity and intuitive navigation systems showcases Jeep’s commitment to keeping drivers connected while prioritizing safety.
Beyond its adventurous spirit, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator excels in practicality and utility. The versatile truck bed offers ample space for hauling gear, while innovative features like the available Trail Rail™ Cargo Management System provide secure storage solutions for all your equipment. Whether you’re loading up for a weekend getaway or tackling daily tasks, the Gladiator proves to be a reliable partner for any adventure.
Every Gladiator is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The stereo system can also be enhanced with an optional subwoofer and portable wireless speaker located behind the back seat. Front-seat passengers have access to several power points, including two USB ports and a USB-C port, as well as a 115-volt outlet.
While the Jeep pickup offers some driver-assistance technology, its range is notably smaller than that of some competitors. For 2024, Jeep has added standard side-curtain airbags for both first- and second-row passengers. However, the base Sport trim still lacks many standard safety features found on the Sport S and higher-level trims. The Rubicon model includes a useful front-facing camera, particularly beneficial for trailblazing and rock crawling. For more information on the Gladiator’s crash-test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features include:
- Available adaptive cruise control
- Available blind-spot monitoring
- Available rear parking sensors
Pricing and Customization Options of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator
Jeep understands that every driver has unique preferences, which is why the 2024 Gladiator offers a plethora of customization options. From exterior colors to wheel designs and accessory packages, there’s no shortage of ways to personalize your Gladiator to suit your individual style and requirements. This level of customization ensures that each Gladiator on the road is a reflection of its owner’s personality and adventurous spirit.
|Sport S||$44,000 (est)|
|Rubicon X||$56,000 (est)|
|Mojave X||$56,000 (est)|
We believe the Sport S is the perfect base for creating our ideal Gladiator. We would opt for all-terrain tires and an anti-spin rear differential to enhance traction off-road, and we’d add side steps for easier entry and exit. Additionally, we would choose the three-piece hard top for its quick-open roof ability. Inside, we’d select the headliner for improved noise and temperature insulation and upgrade to the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, which includes navigation and offers more sophistication than the standard 5.0-inch unit. Our other preferred options include the Cargo Management pack (featuring a 400-watt power inverter, an under-seat storage bin, and a bed-mounted 115-volt outlet) and the auxiliary switches and upgraded charging system for any light bars or accessories that we will surely add to maximize the Jeep experience.
