Overview 2024 McLaren Artura
The Artura was introduced in 2023 as McLaren’s “entry-level” supercar, featuring a powertrain that represents a significant change in direction for the British automaker. Positioned amidships, the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine is McLaren’s first six-cylinder offering and is coupled with an electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery. In total, the hybrid powertrain delivers an impressive 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, propelling the sleek two-door from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph.
However, McLaren’s inaugural plug-in hybrid is also capable of driving purely on electric power for up to 11 miles and offers a relatively comfortable ride. The Artura occupies a position below the new 750S in McLaren’s lineup, costing approximately $100,000 less, yet it nearly matches its higher-end counterpart in terms of performance. Additionally, it provides a more comfortable and livable cabin, as well as more understated styling.
Design of the 2024 McLaren Artura
The 2024 McLaren Artura showcases a sleek and aerodynamic design that is both visually striking and functional. McLaren has incorporated their signature design elements, such as the dihedral doors and low-slung profile, while incorporating new futuristic touches. The Artura features a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, providing exceptional strength and reducing overall weight. Its sculpted body lines enhance aerodynamic efficiency, ensuring optimal performance on and off the track.
McLaren Artura possesses the typical design of a high-performance car along with many details inspired by other models in the company’s product range. Thanks to that, the appearance is optimized for aerodynamics and engine cooling purposes, the front bumper is designed with air vents that direct high-pressure air generated from the wheels at high speed to escape along the body line. The Artura’s lower space is quite wide, allowing the air diffusers to be designed larger, increasing traction and aerodynamic performance.
Performance of the 2024 McLaren Artura
At the heart of the 2024 McLaren Artura lies a groundbreaking powertrain that combines a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor. This hybrid system delivers an impressive total output of 671 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. The electrification not only enhances power but also improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. The Artura boasts a lightning-fast acceleration, propelling from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds, making it one of the quickest supercars on the market.
The Artura is equipped with a new hybrid twin-turbo V-6 engine that produces a combined 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. The gasoline engine is supplemented by an electric motor, which is located within the housing of the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This motor is powered by a 7.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear of the cabin. The new powertrain allows for up to 11 miles of all-electric driving.
During our initial test drive, we found the Artura to have impressive acceleration. However, we would have preferred a more dramatic experience when reaching 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. While the car is quick, it lacks the auditory satisfaction that we enjoy in other sports cars.
Additionally, the Artura is the first McLaren to be built on the company’s new Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA), which is said to be lighter than its predecessor’s structure. The handling is exceptionally sharp and exhilarating on a racetrack, but it also offers a softer side that provides a comfortable ride for commuting or highway cruising.

Technology of the 2024 McLaren Artura
McLaren has incorporated state-of-the-art technology into the Artura to enhance the driving experience. The supercar features an advanced infotainment system with a high-resolution touchscreen display, offering seamless connectivity and access to various features. The digital instrument cluster provides essential information to the driver, while advanced driver-assistance systems ensure safety and ease of driving. Additionally, McLaren’s Proactive Damping Control system offers precise control over suspension settings, adapting to road conditions for a comfortable and dynamic ride.
Although the infotainment system in a McLaren is typically an afterthought for shoppers, the Artura boasts a prominent 8.0-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen with standard features. This includes Bluetooth connectivity, built-in navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a selection of audio equipment. Those who want to keep their car as light as possible will prefer a stereo with fewer speakers, while others might want to upgrade to a more powerful surround-sound system.
Despite being a supercar, the 2023 Artura actually offers several driver-assistance technologies, which is uncommon in this category. However, due to its limited production and exotic characteristics, it will not undergo crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Some key safety features include: available adaptive cruise control, available automatic high-beams, and available road-sign recognition.
Interior of the 2024 McLaren Artura
Step inside the 2024 McLaren Artura, and you will be greeted by a luxurious and driver-focused cabin. The seats are ergonomically designed, providing excellent support during spirited driving. The use of premium materials, such as leather and carbon fiber, enhance the overall ambiance and exude a sense of exclusivity. Despite its supercar status, the Artura offers practicality with ample cargo space for a weekend getaway.
Inside, the Artura largely embodies McLaren’s function-over-fashion approach. However, the cabin features stylish materials such as leather and microsuede. Unlike other models, there is less visible carbon fiber, but the company’s signature minimalist design is still present. Physical switchgear is limited, and the steering wheel is button-free, as is typical for McLaren.
The car comes with power-adjustable seats as standard, and its excellent outward visibility helps drivers accurately position the car on the road or racetrack. While it may not offer as much space as the McLaren GT, the Artura provides 6 cubic feet of luggage space in the front trunk.
Fuel Efficiency of the 2024 McLaren Artura
With environmental consciousness becoming increasingly important, McLaren has ensured that the Artura offers impressive fuel efficiency for a high-performance supercar. The hybrid powertrain allows for electric-only driving at lower speeds, reducing fuel consumption during city commutes. The regenerative braking system also captures energy that would otherwise be wasted, further contributing to fuel savings.
According to the EPA, the Artura is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. However, when taking into account its electric driving range, it is also rated for up to 39 MPGe. Once we have the chance to test it on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our comprehensive testing process, we can assess its real-world mpg.
