Overview 2024 Lexus RX
While other compact luxury crossovers adopt a sporty approach, the 2024 Lexus RX opts for a soft-riding, relaxed demeanor. Even the RX500h F Sport Performance is neither sporty nor high-performing. Don’t misunderstand us, it accelerates quite well, reaching 60 mph in 5.5 seconds on our test track, but it lacks the ability to inspire spirited driving in the same way as competitors like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the Porsche Macan.
If you’re fine with that, the RX offers a smooth ride, an upscale cabin, and a luxurious presence—qualities it has maintained over several generations. The cabin is spacious for both passengers and cargo, but if you’re in need of a third row of seats, you’ll have to consider the new TX SUV, which replaces the elongated RX-L in the Lexus lineup.
The 2024 RX lineup is expanded with the addition of a plug-in RX450h+ model, which features a battery that allows for up to 35 miles of electric-only driving. The RX450h+ is exclusively available in the loaded Luxury trim and serves as the range-topping model, priced at over $70,000. It shares its plug-in hybrid powertrain with the smaller NX450h+, utilizing a four-cylinder engine and three electric motors to generate 304 horsepower. All-wheel drive comes standard. Aside from this addition, the RX remains unchanged for the 2024 model year.
Design of the 2024 Lexus RX
The appearance of the Lexus RX 2024 has a strong innovation, bringing a more futuristic image to the luxury car model. The wheelbase size has also been extended by 60 mm, providing a spacious interior space for people sitting in the car.
Car front
The grille is the area receiving the biggest change with a 3D stylized shape that is completely different from the Lexus models currently on sale on the market. The spindle shape is still present on the grille, but the design has now been stylized, causing a lot of controversy about aesthetics.
Connected to the grille is a compact and somewhat sharp lighting system that extends to the rear. The lighting technology here is LED bulbs with integrated AHB adaptability similar to the elder LX600.
Below are LED fog lights placed on both sides of the deeply concave air vents and arranged vertically to create a tall feeling for the front of the car.
Vehicle body
Looking at the body of the car, the Lexus RX 2024 brings a sturdy, muscular and strong shape. The body is seamless with door handles and rearview mirrors in the same body color. In particular, the rearview mirror has an automatic anti-glare feature, automatically adjusting the angle when backing up.
The legs on the RX 2024 range in size from 19-21 inches, depending on the version. The multi-spoke wheel design spreads evenly across the diameter, emphasizing the strength and flexibility of the Lexus RX 2024.
In addition, the car’s body also has a lively curving line combined with embossed ribs around the wheel arches. The rear body is gradually lowered, creating a beautiful sporty look for the small Lexus SUV.
Rear
The rear of the Lexus RX 2024 also received improvements with seamless taillights, crossing the rear. The LED taillights are gradually larger on both sides and slim in the middle, in harmony with the overall design of the new generation.
The back also has bold cutouts combined with narrow slits on both sides.
Lexus RX 2024 car color
Customers have 11 exterior color options for the Lexus RX 2024 depending on the version: White, Silver White, Black, Red, Orange, Gray, Sonic Titanium Silver, Iridium Silver, Moss Green, Dark Blue, Sky Blue. At the same time, this mid-sized luxury SUV also has 5 interior color options including: White, Black, Red, Brown and Red/Brown.
Technology of the 2024 Lexus RX
Lexus has always been at the forefront of incorporating innovative technology into their vehicles, and the 2024 RX is no exception. This luxury SUV boasts an array of advanced features that enhance both comfort and convenience. The centerpiece of the RX’s technology offerings is the Lexus Enform infotainment system with a large touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Additionally, the RX offers a premium sound system, wireless charging, intuitive navigation, and a heads-up display. Safety is also prioritized with features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.
The RX features a redesigned dashboard with a 9.8-inch infotainment touchscreen at the center, which can be upgraded to a larger 14.0-inch display. Just like the smaller NX SUV, the RX’s infotainment screen is slightly angled towards the driver and incorporates Lexus’s latest software interface. It comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as standard, while additional options include navigation, a head-up display, and a premium Mark Levinson stereo system.
Lexus includes a range of standard driver-assistance features in its new cars and SUVs, and the 2023 RX is no exception. The RX is equipped with an automated emergency braking system that can detect pedestrians and motorcyclists, and all models also feature adaptive cruise control with lane centering. For detailed information about the RX’s crash-test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features of the RX include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Standard adaptive cruise control with lane-centering feature
Performance of the 2024 Lexus RX
Under the hood, the 2024 Lexus RX offers impressive power and efficiency options. The standard powertrain is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers a robust 295 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque while maintaining exceptional fuel efficiency. For those seeking even more power, Lexus offers a hybrid variant of the RX with a combined output of 308 horsepower. This hybrid option not only provides exhilarating performance but also significantly improves fuel economy, making it an ideal choice for eco-conscious drivers.
The 2024 RX is available with four different powertrains. It starts with the base RX350 model, which is equipped with a 275-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This model comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission as well as front-wheel drive as standard, with the option of all-wheel drive. The hybrid RX350h combines electric motors with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 246 horsepower. It comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive.
In our initial test drive, we found that neither of these powertrains delivered impressive performance, and we estimate that both will offer slightly slower acceleration than their 2022 counterparts. Stepping up to the RX500h F Sport Performance unlocks a more powerful powertrain. It combines the turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with electric power to generate 367 horsepower, and it utilizes Lexus’s Direct4 system to distribute power to all four wheels.
However, despite the potential, the chassis engineers of the RX500h disappointingly chose not to enhance the cornering capabilities. During our test on the track, the RX500h F Sport Performance achieved a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds. The RX450h+ is a plug-in hybrid model that features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, three electric motors, and standard all-wheel drive.
This powertrain is the same as what’s offered in the Toyota RAV4 Prime and Lexus NX450h+ SUVs, but it produces two extra horsepower in this application, totaling to 304 horsepower. All the models we have driven so far exhibit the same soft suspension and luxury-focused characteristics as the previous generation of the RX, which will surely satisfy loyal customers but is unlikely to attract driving enthusiasts.
The RX450h+ is equipped with an 18.1-kWh battery pack that can be conveniently charged in a little over two hours when connected to a 240-volt source. This battery offers an impressive electric driving range of up to 35 miles per charge.
Interior Comfort of the 2024 Lexus RX
Stepping inside, the Lexus RX 2024 first offers a much more spacious compartment than the previous generation thanks to the wheelbase extended by 60 mm. The interior details are high-end and continue to aim for luxury and practicality.
Cockpit
The steering wheel is covered in 4-spoke leather with a bright chrome trim on the bottom and integrated convenient function control keys on both sides. Behind the steering wheel there is also a gear shift lever for the driver’s convenience.
The 7-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel displays operating parameters. The center of the dashboard has a floating entertainment screen measuring 14 inches and the standard version is only 9.8 inches.
The center console below is also highlighted with chrome details on the gear lever or two convenient cup holders. The dashboard surface is also covered with luxurious wood, increasing the class of the luxury car.
Seating system
All seats are covered in smooth and soft leather. The front seats continue to be sportily designed with a hugging shape, creating a comfortable and relaxing feeling. The feature of this row of seats is 8-10-way power adjustment for comfort. The driver’s seat has a memory position, depending on the version, there will be additional cooling and heating of the seat.
The rear seat space is spacious and comfortable with legroom and an airy ceiling. Conveniences also contribute to bringing a comfortable feeling to passengers on every journey such as 3-position headrest, central armrest with integrated cup holder, and rear air vent. The rear seats can also be conveniently folded flat.
Convenient
Comfortable equipment on the Lexus RX 2024 extends with a 12-21 speaker sound system, automatic air conditioning, electronic handbrake, automatic brake hold, electronic gear lever, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity support. wire, Hey Lexus smart virtual assistant, electric sunroof, wireless charging, head-up display.
Fuel Efficiency of the 2024 Lexus RX
In today’s world where fuel efficiency is crucial, the 2024 Lexus RX shines with its impressive MPG ratings. The standard V6 engine variant achieves an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, making it one of the most fuel-efficient luxury SUVs in its class. For those looking for even better fuel economy, the hybrid variant offers an impressive 31 mpg in city driving conditions and 28 mpg on the highway. These fuel-efficient options not only save money at the pump but also contribute to reducing your carbon footprint.
According to data from the EPA, the RX350h is the most efficient model in the RX lineup, with claimed ratings of 37 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. The RX500h has reported ratings of 27 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, while the nonhybrid RX350 achieved ratings of 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway for front-wheel-drive models. The RX450h+ has a combined rating of 83 MPGe. During our test on a 75-mph highway, the RX500h F Sport Performance achieved 28 mpg, which matches its EPA estimate. For more information on the RX’s fuel economy, please refer to the EPA’s website.
Pricing and Trims of the 2024 Lexus RX
The 2024 Lexus RX is available in several trims to suit different preferences and budgets. The base model offers an impressive range of standard features at a competitive price point compared to its rivals.
