Fullwood hails ‘killer’ BJR after stunning charge
Supercars Championship Results,Bryce Fullwood has praised Brad Jones Racing for quick stops and “killer” strategy that aided his epic charge in the Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint opener.
Fullwood started 24th for Thursday’s race, but crossed the line 11th — a gain of 13 positions in just 19 laps of racing.
The #14 Middy’s Camaro was up positions by the time Fullwood stopped — and clever strategy pushed him further forward.
With the race declared a wet session, drivers weren’t required to use both compounds — and a fast two-tyre stop helped Fullwood make up even more positions.
The rule also benefited the likes of Erebus Motorsport and Red Bull Ampol Racing, with Will Brown third and Broc Feeney fourth.
Fullwood crossed the line 11th, one position behind teammate Macauley Jones, who was a team-high 10th.
BJR spearhead Andre Heimgartner struggled to 17th, despite topping Practice 2. Jack Smith was 23rd.

For Fullwood, it was reward after errors in qualifying consigned him to the rear.
“Difficult start to the day, I flat-spotted a hard tyre — and we only had two sets of tyres,” he said.
“So we didn’t really get a whole lot of practice, which is unfortunate, it put us on the back foot a little bit.
“Qualifying just didn’t quite get it together, I was sort of working my way around the track a little bit.
“Then the race — we had a really good start and made up quite a few spots, and then I feel like the car was actually quite speedy through the race.
“And then the guys did a really good job on the pit stop — and then they also did a killer job on the strategy.
“And yeah, found ourselves in 11th. So it’s a really, really positive end of the day.”
Cars will return on Friday for the 15-lap Race 4.
Heimgartner will started 16th, best of the BJR quartet ahead of Fullwood (20th), Jones (21st) and Smith (22nd).
