Overeview 2024 Honda Passport
Simplicity is the key focus of the Honda Passport. It is equipped with one powertrain option: a lively 280-hp V-6 engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. Unlike its larger sibling, the three-row Pilot, the Passport has two rows of seats. It also offers a spacious rear cargo area that can easily accommodate multiple hockey bags or large luggage pieces. With a maximum towing capacity of 5000 pounds, the Passport is practical. However, a simple life is not always exciting or luxurious, and this is where mid-size competitors like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Kia Sorento have an advantage over the Honda.
There are some slight changes for the 2024 Honda Passport. The off-road Passport TrailSport now offers a new all-terrain tire option, which includes General Grabber A/Tx tires wrapped in 18-inch wheels. Taking a page from the Pilot TrailSport, the Passport TrailSport now also comes in the Diffused Sky Blue paint option, similar to its three-row sibling. Additionally, a new Passport Black Edition has been introduced as the highest trim level, featuring a more luxurious interior. Furthermore, all Passports now come with an updated center console that provides increased storage space.

Anyone who has experienced the interior of the Honda Ridgeline will instantly recognize the cabin of the Passport. While the design may not be remarkable, the materials are appealing and the controls are well-organized. However, we would prefer more physical knobs and buttons instead of touchscreen controls. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, featuring an adjustable armrest for optimal comfort. The back seat is also roomy, allowing the Passport to accommodate up to five people. With 41 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seat, we were able to fit 15 carry-on suitcases. Folding down the rear row unlocks 78 cubic feet of room and the ability to carry a total of 33 bags. Overall, the interior cubby storage is excellent thanks to convenient storage bins throughout the cabin and a large center-console bin.
Performance and Engine of the 2024 Honda Passport
Under the hood, the 2024 Honda Passport comes equipped with a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides plenty of power for both city driving and off-road adventures. The SUV also offers an available Intelligent Variable Torque Management™ (i-VTM4®) AWD system, allowing it to tackle various terrains with ease.
The 2024 Honda Passport offers a smooth and comfortable ride, thanks to its advanced suspension system. Whether you’re navigating through city streets or exploring off-road trails, this SUV delivers a balanced and refined driving experience.
Under the hood, you’ll find the same 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission that can be found in the Pilot. All models come with all-wheel drive. During our testing, we found the Passport to be quite zippy. Its ride is comfortable on most roads, and the steering is delightfully direct, giving it a nimble feel. Additionally, it boasts 8.1 inches of ground clearance, which is sufficient to navigate through rough terrain without damaging the underside. However, it’s important to note that the Passport is not intended for serious off-roading.
Safety Features of the 2024 Honda Passport
When it comes to safety, the 2024 Honda Passport is packed with advanced features to keep you and your passengers protected. It comes standard with Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, including Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). These features provide an extra layer of confidence on the road, helping to prevent accidents and mitigate potential risks.
Despite being the more compact two-row version of the three-row Pilot, the Honda Passport is still a capable tow vehicle for light-duty needs. With a maximum towing capacity of 5000 pounds, it outperforms vehicles of similar size such as the Chevy Blazer, which has a limit of 4500 pounds, and the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe, which has a capacity of 3500 pounds. This means that the Passport can handle towing heavier boats or trailers with ease.
The Honda Passport includes a comprehensive suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies as standard features. These include forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and more. For detailed crash-test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features of the Passport include standard lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
