Overview 2024 BMW M3
The BMW M3 exudes madness. Its standard powertrain unleashes 473 horsepower from a twin-turbo straight-six engine, propelling it through a six-speed manual transmission and swiftly delivering power to the rear tires. But that’s just the beginning. The M3 Competition, available exclusively with an eight-speed automatic, boosts horsepower to 503 and allows you to choose between rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Despite its immense power, the M3 is surprisingly capable of maintaining a comfortable pace even when driving within legal limits. While rivals like the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio may offer a more refined and less intense driving experience at times, there is no wrong choice among these three luxury super sedans.
For an even more exhilarating experience, there’s the new-for-2024 M3 CS. It sheds an estimated 75 pounds from the base M3 and delivers a thunderous 543 horsepower with the added benefit of all-wheel drive.
The BMW M3 becomes even more insane in 2024 with the introduction of the limited-edition M3 CS model. This variant boasts an impressive increase in horsepower, going from 503 to 543. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials, it sheds an estimated 75 pounds compared to the standard M3. The M3 CS is equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, ensuring lightning-fast acceleration.
It also features its own suspension tuning, along with eye-catching red or black brake calipers behind the M light-alloy wheels. Additionally, the M3 CS offers an exclusive M Dynamic Mode for an aggressive track driving experience. If fitted with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 track-focused tires, this model is expected to be the fastest M3 ever tested.
Exterior Design of the 2024 BMW M3
The 2024 BMW M3 boasts a bold and aggressive stance that is bound to turn heads wherever it goes. BMW designers have taken inspiration from the brand’s motorsport heritage, resulting in a visually striking and aerodynamically efficient design. The signature kidney grille has been enlarged, giving the front fascia an imposing look. The muscular lines and sculpted bodywork further enhance the car’s athletic presence. LED headlights and taillights add a touch of sophistication, while the quad exhaust tips emphasize its sporty nature.
If you ignore the grille details, the appearance of the BMW M3 2024 will be perfect for any customer, even the most demanding. Compared to its predecessor, the M3 2024 is 116.8 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 2.5 mm taller.
Even if you are a crazy fan of BMW, you will not be surprised when the grille of the BMW M3 2024 is so big. Many users named this detail pig’s nose instead of the typical kidney.
This is not the first time BMW has equipped a vehicle with an oversized grille. Previously, the BMW X7 and BMW 7-Series also caused controversy with their “big nose”. According to BMW, the M3 2023 has an unusual grille to please Chinese customers.
Aesthetics aside, in terms of performance, the massive grille on the 2024 M3 will help direct more air into the engine to improve performance. In addition, the German automaker also added air vents in the diffuser to help cool the brake system.
In the standard version, the BMW M3 2024 will be equipped with 18-inch front and 19-inch rear rims. Comes with front/rear tires of 275/40 and 285/35 respectively.
Up to the M3 Competition version, the appearance looks sportier with the front and rear wheels being 1 inch larger than the standard version. Comes with front/rear tires of 275/35 and 285/30 respectively.
Seen from behind, the BMW M3 2024 looks very fierce and aggressive thanks to the use of dark LED taillights. Combined with the system of 4 circular exhaust pipes typical of high-performance cars, evenly distributed create exciting sounds.
The diffuser at the rear of the car can also be ignored with its large design contributing to improved aerodynamics. If you purchase the optional M Carbon Exterior Package, the 2024 M3 will be equipped with a spoiler and rearview mirror covers made from ultra-light fiber.

Interior Comfort of the 2024 BMW M3
Stepping inside the 2024 BMW M3 reveals a cabin that exudes luxury and refinement. The sports seats are ergonomically designed to provide excellent support during spirited driving. Premium materials such as leather upholstery, carbon fiber trims, and aluminum accents create an upscale ambiance. The driver-focused cockpit features a modern and intuitive layout, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen seamlessly integrated into the dashboard. The M-specific steering wheel feels comfortable in hand and incorporates various controls for easy access to essential features.
In addition to its unique “M” badging and distinctive trim details, the M3 shares a similar interior with the regular 3-series. This means that the M3 has the same overall design, passenger space, and outward visibility as its more ordinary counterpart. While M cars are renowned for their enhanced performance, they also match or surpass the top-of-the-line 3-series in terms of interior materials and build quality. As expected, the M3 features more carbon fiber and microsuede accents to enhance its sporty aesthetic.
Behind the wheel, the driver is greeted with a large curved digital gauge cluster that switches to M View when engaging the sportier drive modes. These modes can be activated using prominent red buttons on the M3’s robust steering wheel. Switching to M View adds a shift indicator and replaces the standard tachometer with one that offers improved readability.
For those seeking maximum support, a set of heavily bolstered, lightweight front seats are available (standard on the Competition model). These seats provide incredible support without sacrificing too much comfort, although they may not be as ideal for long road trips.
Performance of the 2024 BMW M3
Under the hood, the 2024 BMW M3 packs a punch with its high-performance engine. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six TwinPower Turbo engine, it produces an impressive [insert horsepower] and [insert torque]. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels (or all four wheels, depending on the chosen drivetrain) through a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The M3 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just [insert time], showcasing its exceptional speed and acceleration capabilities. Optional performance upgrades, such as carbon-ceramic brakes and an M Sport differential, further enhance its track-ready potential.
Like the new M4 coupe, the M3 sedan also features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The standard version delivers 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels, and it is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the M3 Competition model has an even more powerful engine, producing 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, but it is only offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The M3 Competition comes with rear-wheel drive as standard, but it can also be equipped with an all-wheel-drive system that includes a rear-drive mode.
The most powerful version of the M3 is the M3 CS, boasting 543 horsepower. It is equipped with all-wheel drive and exclusively comes with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The CS is constructed with many carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic components, making it 39 pounds lighter than the M3 Competition xDrive, but still 310 pounds heavier than the M4 CSL coupe.
All M3 models come with adaptive dampers and an adjustable brake-pedal feel. Additionally, the sedan can be equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, which feature gold-painted calipers for a cool look. During our first drive of the regular M3 and the Competition variant, we were impressed by their ability to perform thrilling drifts, especially when using the optional M Drift Analyzer that is part of the M Drive professional package. We also enjoyed the satisfying shifts of the manual gearbox and the engine’s relentless acceleration. However, when compared to the exhilarating Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the M3 falls slightly short in terms of driver immersion.
Driving Dynamics and Handling of the 2024 BMW M3
The driving experience of the 2024 BMW M3 is nothing short of exhilarating. Its precise steering and well-tuned suspension system deliver exceptional handling and cornering capabilities. Whether on winding roads or racetracks, the M3 offers exceptional stability and grip, providing drivers with confidence in any situation. Adaptive M suspension allows for customizable ride comfort and sportiness, catering to individual preferences. The selectable driving modes (Comfort, Sport, and Track) enable drivers to tailor the car’s dynamics to their liking.
While prioritizing driver engagement, BMW has not neglected the inclusion of standard and optional driver-assistance technology in the M3 sedan. For detailed information regarding the M3’s crash test results, please refer to the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Key safety features of the M3 include:
- Standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
- Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control
Technology of the 2024 BMW M3
BMW has equipped the 2024 M3 with an array of advanced technologies that elevate both convenience and safety. The iDrive infotainment system offers seamless smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing drivers to access their favorite apps and media effortlessly. A head-up display projects essential information onto the windshield, ensuring drivers can keep their eyes on the road at all times. Furthermore, advanced driver-assistance systems like lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control provide an extra layer of safety.
The M3 incorporates an infotainment system that utilizes a long, curved touchscreen display extending from behind the steering wheel across most of the dashboard. For those who prefer not to use the touchscreen, the iDrive 8 infotainment interface also includes a rotary knob and buttons on the center console. The M3 provides multiple charging ports and offers a range of standard and optional features.
Fortunately, BMW no longer requires a paid subscription for Apple CarPlay and has also embraced Android Auto, both of which come standard. Additionally, the M3 includes a Harman/Kardon sound system and a one-year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio as standard features. Optional features for the system include gesture controls, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless charging pad.
Fuel Efficiency of the 2024 BMW M3
While the focus of the BMW M3 is primarily on performance, it still manages to deliver respectable fuel efficiency considering its powerful engine. The exact fuel economy may vary depending on factors such as driving style and road conditions but expect it to be around [insert approximate fuel efficiency]. BMW has also implemented various fuel-saving technologies, such as auto start-stop functionality and energy regeneration during braking, to further optimize efficiency.
The M3 sedan has a city fuel efficiency rating of up to 16 mpg and a highway rating of up to 23 mpg. However, if you opt for the all-wheel drive version, the highway rating drops to 22 mpg. In our own extensive testing, the M3 sedan exceeded its EPA estimate by achieving an impressive 32 mpg on our highway test loop. The M3 CS, with its 543-hp engine, also performed admirably on our highway test, earning a rating of 30 mpg. For additional details on the M3’s fuel economy, please visit the EPA’s website.

The 2024 BMW M3 is expected to be available at authorized BMW dealerships starting [insert date]. As for pricing, it will depend on the chosen trim level and optional features. However, as a high-performance luxury sedan, it is reasonable to expect a starting price in the range of [insert price range], with higher-end variants commanding a premium.
It’s unfortunate that the M3 Competition, with its increased power and optional all-wheel drive (for an additional $4100), is only available with an automatic transmission. The six-speed manual on the base version of the M3 is incredibly satisfying to drive. While we understand the appeal of the M3 Comp, we personally prefer the manual option, which also offers a more comfortable ride.
In addition to the subjective choices of exterior and interior styling, we would recommend selecting the M Drive Professional package, which includes features like an onboard drift analyzer and lap timer, as well as the M Driver’s package, which unlocks a higher top speed and includes a high-performance driving class.
