Overview 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
The automotive industry is undergoing a transformative shift towards electric mobility, and Cadillac has positioned itself at the forefront with the 2024 Lyriq. As the brand’s first all-electric vehicle, the Lyriq represents a bold leap into the future of luxury transportation. With its striking aesthetics and advanced electric powertrain, this SUV embodies Cadillac’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. In this review, we’ll explore the various aspects that make the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq a standout in the burgeoning electric vehicle market.
Although the 2024 Lyriq offers the best glimpse yet of Cadillac’s future, its on-road behavior pays homage to the brand’s most iconic luxury sedans. While several competitors have focused on quick acceleration and agile handling, the Lyriq is satisfied with a smooth ride—a feature we believe loyal Cadillac customers will appreciate as they trade in their aging DTS sedans and SRX crossovers for a more environmentally friendly option. After all, this vehicle doesn’t bear a Blackwing badge. The Lyriq is built on GM’s Ultium scalable battery architecture, which means it shares its technology with the powerful GMC Hummer EV pickup truck.
However, the two vehicles couldn’t be more different. The Lyriq’s stylish bodywork gives it a sleek appearance, and its cabin is much more luxurious. A sleek digital display starts behind the steering wheel and seamlessly transitions into an infotainment display in the center of the dashboard. The estimated driving range is competitive at 308 miles per charge, and all Lyriqs come standard with DC fast-charging capability to take full advantage of America’s growing public EV charging infrastructure.
Cadillac has streamlined the Lyriq lineup for 2024, offering three distinct trims with increasing levels of equipment. The base model, known as Tech, is equipped with the entry-level 340-hp single-motor electric powertrain. However, the range of this model has decreased from an estimated 312 miles per charge to 308. The entry-level Luxury trim includes additional desirable features, while the top-spec Sport trim showcases a more assertive exterior design with darkened chrome trim and a distinctive grille treatment.
Design and Exterior of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq exudes a captivating blend of elegance and modernity in its exterior design. From the signature vertical lighting elements to the sculpted body lines, every aspect of the vehicle reflects Cadillac’s meticulous attention to detail. The front grille, adorned with intricate lighting features, serves as a focal point, seamlessly integrating form and functionality. The sleek profile and aerodynamic silhouette not only enhance the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal but also contribute to its overall efficiency. Whether it’s the seamless integration of charging ports or the dynamic use of LED lighting, the exterior of the Lyriq sets a new standard for electric SUVs.
BLACK CRYSTAL SHIELD AND LED SLIMLINE HEADLAMPS
Free from the need for a traditional grille, LYRIQ comes with a dramatically illuminated Black Crystal Shield. LED projectors stack to create a thin vertical headlamp lighting signature.
SPORT GRILLE AND ACCENTS
Stay stylish in the new LYRIQ Sport, featuring sophisticated details including Obsidian chrome and dark accent finishes on the exterior body and wheels.
LED TAILLAMPS
LYRIQ shines with available LED technology that elevates basic function into artful design. Vertical taillamps intensify the drama of the vehicle’s rear profile.
SUNROOF AND FIXED FULL-GLASS ROOF
The standard sloping fixed full-glass roof stretches uninterrupted for all models including the available black painted roof and available sunroof. An interior power sunshade allows you to manage the light.
AUTOMATED CHARGE PORT DOOR
Charging LYRIQ is simple. A press of the Cadillac Crest on the port door reveals the charge port. Form and function in perfect harmony.

Interior and Comfort of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
Step inside the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, and you’re greeted by a harmonious blend of luxury and technological sophistication. The spacious interior is adorned with premium materials, meticulously crafted to elevate the driving experience. From the panoramic sunroof that bathes the cabin in natural light to the ergonomic seating designed for utmost comfort, every element has been thoughtfully curated. The intuitive infotainment system seamlessly integrates with the immersive driver-centric display, providing access to a myriad of vehicle functionalities with effortless ease. Whether it’s the personalized climate controls or the state-of-the-art audio system, the interior of the Lyriq redefines opulence in the realm of electric vehicles.
The Lyriq boasts an interior with a luxurious appearance. It features a rich-looking design, with a combination of metallic brightwork and open-pore wood on the door panels and center console. A notable touch is the large storage tray on the floor between the driver and front passenger, which is lined with bright blue leather upholstery, adding a stylish pop of color. While the concept vehicle showcased four seats and a center console dividing the front and rear seats, with a touchscreen for rear passengers, the production version of the Lyriq has opted for a more traditional rear bench seat.
The absence of a gasoline engine contributes to a quiet cabin, but Cadillac has also incorporated advanced noise cancellation technology to further reduce road noise. The interior offers ample space, although the cargo room is not as generous as in other SUVs, and Cadillac has not integrated any storage space under the hood.
33″ DIAGONAL ADVANCED LED DISPLAY
Artfully integrated, a single continuous screen—capable of 9K resolution—curves toward the driver.
AKG STUDIO 19-SPEAKER AUDIO SYSTEM
The Cadillac-exclusive available AKG* Studio 19-speaker audio system employs advanced technologies, including Adaptive Volume and Surround Technology, to create an immersive listening experience. Professional high-fidelity sound enhances your enjoyment of favorite music, news and podcasts.
AMBIENT LIGHTING
Inspired by the sun filtering through trees, laser-etched door panel patterns accent the cabin. An available 26-color LED spectrum of choices lets you reflect your mood or create emotion. Add warmth or energy, uplift or soothe.
CENTER CONSOLE
Materials, color and form merge style and function. Architecturally inspired, the center console’s cantilevered design anchors one end while extending the other far forward. Floating the front edge evokes a functional, futuristic hovering table and allows for ample storage space.
SPACIOUS INTERIOR
Free from the constraints dictated by a combustion engine, LYRIQ’s interior beckons with a bold expanse. No transmission tunnel means more room for legs, seating and storage.
INTERIOR JEWELRY
Within the interior, each layer of detail has been obsessively considered and deliberately chosen. Every element builds carefully into the next. From intricate knurling to unique embellishments, beauty seamlessly blends with functionality, and attention to the smallest details underlies all.
CARGO CAPACITY
LYRIQ offers ample cargo room with 28 cubic feet* with the seats up. Fold the seats down for an increased volume of 60.8 cubic feet of space so that you’re ready for any adventure.
Performance and Driving Dynamics of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
Beyond its captivating aesthetics and luxurious interior, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq delivers an exhilarating driving experience synonymous with the Cadillac legacy. Equipped with an advanced electric powertrain, the Lyriq effortlessly translates power into performance, propelling the vehicle with instant torque and seamless acceleration. The integration of cutting-edge battery technology ensures an impressive range, allowing drivers to embark on extended journeys with confidence. Furthermore, the precision-tuned suspension and responsive handling imbue the Lyriq with agility and poise, making every drive a captivating endeavor. Whether it’s navigating urban streets or embarking on open highways, the driving dynamics of the Lyriq exemplify Cadillac’s unwavering commitment to delivering a truly engaging driving experience.
The Lyriq comes with a standard rear-wheel-drive configuration, featuring a 340-hp electric motor on the rear axle. While this setup provides adequate acceleration and responsiveness, it lacks the powerful feeling that we appreciate in competing SUVs like the BMW iX and the Tesla Model X. During our testing, the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq reached 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is reasonably quick for a mid-size SUV, but falls behind its EV rivals. An optional all-wheel-drive powertrain with dual motors and 500 hp is available, adding a second motor to drive the front wheels. The all-wheel-drive Lyriq reached 60 mph in 4.6 seconds during our track testing.
The Lyriq’s driving experience may disappoint enthusiasts. While its handling feels stable and competent, it doesn’t offer much excitement when pushed hard. The steering is well-weighted but lacks tactile feedback, and the same can be said for the brake pedal. Fortunately, Cadillac has incorporated an aggressive regenerative braking system that allows for one-pedal driving. This means that simply lifting off the accelerator pedal will slow the vehicle down quickly enough in most day-to-day driving scenarios, minimizing the need to use the brake pedal. The ride quality is comfortable on smooth roads, but some may find the suspension a bit too firm on rougher stretches of pavement.
AWD DUAL MOTOR
With this available powertrain, dual motors power all four wheels. Added power also adds trailering* capability.
ULTIUM PERFORMANCE
The Ultium Battery Platform enables a near 50/50 vehicle weight distribution and a low center of gravity for a responsive and spirited drive.
5-LINK FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION
Smooth driving. Tight handling. The 5-link suspension system on both the front and rear axles allows for independent tuning for a superior ride feel.
DRIVER MODE SELECTOR
Choose your preference and adapt to changing road conditions. Select from Tour, Snow/Ice, Sport and My Mode.

Technology and Infotainment of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
At the heart of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq lies a suite of advanced technological features that redefine connectivity and convenience. The intuitive infotainment system seamlessly integrates with the driver’s interface, offering a wealth of information and entertainment at your fingertips. From voice-activated controls to seamless smartphone integration, every aspect of the vehicle’s technology is designed to enhance the driving experience. Moreover, the Lyriq boasts an array of driver-assistive technologies that prioritize safety without compromising on performance. Whether it’s advanced navigation features or real-time vehicle diagnostics, the technological prowess of the Lyriq underscores Cadillac’s dedication to innovation.
Similar to the Escalade, the Lyriq’s dashboard prominently features a massive 33.0-inch curved advanced LED touchscreen. This impressive display serves as both the SUV’s infotainment system and the driver’s gauge display. For those who prefer physical controls over touchscreens, the infotainment system can also be operated using a click wheel located on the center console. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, providing seamless connectivity. Additionally, all Lyriq models come equipped with an exceptional 19-speaker stereo system from renowned audio experts AKG, ensuring a rich and immersive sound experience.
OVER-THE-AIR UPDATES
LYRIQ is equipped to support over-the-air in-vehicle software updates so you can have the most up-to-date software available.
SUPER CRUISE
Super Cruise* is an available hands-free driver assistance technology for use on compatible roads. The system steers the vehicle to maintain lane position or to perform a lane change, under certain conditions, while also monitoring your attention to the road.
GOOGLE BUILT-IN
Google built-in* compatibility delivers Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play, so you have access to hands-free help, live traffic updates, some of your favorite apps and more.
ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION
Tranquility takes center stage. The available next-generation Active Noise Cancellation intelligently measures road vibration and uses the AKG* speaker system to help actively cancel road-induced noise. That technology, coupled with rigorous wind-tunnel testing and acoustic laminated glass, can help turn traditional road noise into a symphony of solitude.
Charging and Range of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
General Motors introduced its new Ultium EV battery technology last year with the launch of the Lyriq. This advanced technology is scalable, allowing the automaker to manufacture batteries ranging in size from 50.0 to 200.0 kWh. However, the largest size is reportedly reserved exclusively for large EV pickup trucks like the GMC Hummer EV SUT. The Lyriq is equipped with a 102.0 kWh battery, providing an estimated driving range of up to 308 miles per charge for the single-motor model and 307 miles for the dual-motor version.
During our highway range test, the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq displayed a driving range of 270 miles before requiring a recharge, while the all-wheel-drive version achieved a range of 220 miles in the same test. In terms of charging capabilities, all Lyriq models come standard with DC fast-charging capability, and the vehicle can also be charged using home power outlets.
With a range of at-home and public charging options and innovative driving features, keeping your LYRIQ charged has never been easier. Then drive with confidence: LYRIQ RWD Single Motor models can travel up to 314 miles* and AWD Dual Motor models can travel up to 307 miles.*
According to the EPA, the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq has an estimated fuel efficiency of 92 MPGe in the city and 82 MPGe on the highway. The all-wheel-drive version has slightly lower numbers, dropping by 1 MPGe in both city and highway driving. During our own testing, we achieved a mixed driving fuel efficiency of 72 MPGe with the rear-wheel-drive model and 77 MPGe with the all-wheel-drive version, although it’s worth noting that these results were obtained with a lead-footed driving style. For more detailed information about the Lyriq’s fuel economy, we recommend visiting the EPA’s website.
ENERGY ASSIST
Use Energy Assist* to find charging stations, initiate navigation* and schedule your next charge. Access this feature in your myCadillac Mobile App* or through the in-vehicle infotainment* system.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING FEATURING REGEN ON DEMAND™
Regenerative Braking allows you to decelerate under normal driving conditions with the pressure-sensitive Regen on Demand* steering wheel paddle. The more you pull, the faster your LYRIQ will slow.
ONE-PEDAL DRIVING
Slow down or stop your Cadillac LYRIQ using One-Pedal Driving* with customizable settings.
RECOMMENDED CHARGING OPTIONS
Charge your LYRIQ with an available Ultium Level 2 home* or public* charging unit, and with public DC Fast Charge* stations.
Safety and Driver of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
The Lyriq from Cadillac comes equipped with standard driver-assistance features, although the Super Cruise hands-free driving system requires a subscription. For detailed information regarding the Lyriq’s crash test results, we recommend visiting the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features are expected to include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode.
