Overeview of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
The connection between the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E crossover and the 50-year-old Mustang coupe is mostly based on name recognition rather than the loud, racy side of the pony car. However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that the battery-electric Mach-E is a quick, powerful, good-looking, and great riding family car with plenty of other appealing features. The lineup is divided into specialist trims: the cost-conscious entry-level Select, the feature-rich Premium, the range leader California Route 1, and the GT trims that offer a combination of features and power. Although it may not be as cutting-edge as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which replaced the Mach-E as our 2022 EV of the Year, the ‘Stang still provides a well-appointed interior with Ford’s latest gadgets and gizmos. Most trims have a range of over 250 miles on a single charge, and in our test of the GT Performance Edition, it accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds at our test track—just a few blinks behind the real Mustang Shelby GT500.
The highlight of 2024 is the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E Rally trim, a variant designed for light off-road use. The front end has been redesigned to accommodate fog lights and a red tow hook, while the tailgate now features a high-mounted spoiler. Additionally, the Mach-E’s standard tires have been replaced with slightly more aggressive rubber. In addition, Ford anticipates that by spring 2024, Mach-E owners will have access to Tesla’s Supercharger network for charging their vehicles.
Design of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E boasts a sleek and aerodynamic design that stands out on the road. Its bold front grille proudly displays the iconic Mustang emblem, while its sculpted body lines give it a sporty and aggressive look. The Mach-E’s available panoramic fixed-glass roof adds to the sense of openness and spaciousness in the cabin, allowing natural light to flood in and enhancing the overall driving experience.
Although the 7th generation 2024 Ford Mustang has an all-new body with more rugged muscular lines than the previous version, its design is more focused on advancement rather than innovation. The front of the car retains the square shape inspired by the first generation, but is updated with new headlights that incorporate modern LED elements. The back of the 2024 Ford Mustang still retains its characteristic three arrows on each side.
Performance of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
When it comes to performance, the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E does not disappoint. With multiple trim levels and powertrain options available, drivers can choose between rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, as well as different battery capacities. The Mach-E GT Performance Edition takes performance to the next level, offering exhilarating acceleration and impressive handling capabilities. Its electric powertrain delivers instant torque, ensuring quick and responsive acceleration, making it a thrill to drive.
The Mustang Mach-E is offered with two battery options: a standard-range 70.0-kWh battery and an extended-range 91.0-kWh pack. The Select and Premium trims come with a single electric motor for rear-wheel drive, while the AWD variants of all four trims have a motor on each axle. The top-of-the-line GT and GT Performance Edition models, which are only available with AWD, boast a combined output of 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque. In our testing, the Mach-E GT Performance accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The less powerful models with rear-wheel drive produce either 266 or 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
The AWD trims, excluding the California Route 1 and GT duo, offer power outputs ranging from 266 to 346 horsepower, and torque ranging from 427 to 428 pound-feet. In our previous experience with the Mach-E—an extended-range AWD model—we found it to be quicker and more engaging than many of its competitors. In addition to the various power levels available, we believe that shoppers will appreciate the Mach-E’s range of features, quiet operation, and smooth ride.

Technology of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is packed with innovative technology features that enhance both convenience and entertainment. The centerpiece of its interior is a massive 15.5-inch touchscreen display that controls various functions such as infotainment, navigation, and climate control. The SYNC 4A system, powered by Ford’s own operating system, offers seamless integration with smartphones and access to a multitude of apps. Additionally, the Mach-E introduces Ford’s new hands-free driving technology, BlueCruise, which allows for a more relaxed and stress-free driving experience on compatible highways.
Ford’s next-generation Sync infotainment system utilizes machine learning to personalize the driving experience for each individual. At present, it can accommodate up to three driver profiles along with a guest profile. In the Mustang Mach-E, this software is operated through a vertically mounted 15.5-inch touchscreen, which provides convenient access to a wide range of apps and features. One notable advantage of this system is that Ford will continuously release over-the-air updates, ensuring ongoing enhancements and the addition of new content. Key features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, and, depending on the trim level, a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Safety Features of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
Ford prioritizes safety in the 2024 Mustang Mach-E by equipping it with advanced safety features. The Co-Pilot360 suite includes technologies such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping System, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. These features work together to help prevent accidents and assist drivers during their journey. Furthermore, the Mach-E offers an available Active Park Assist feature, which makes parallel and perpendicular parking a breeze.
The Mustang Mach-E offers various driver-assistance technologies, including Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving technology. To learn more about the crash-test results of the Mach-E, you can visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Some key safety features of the vehicle include: S
- Tandard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning.
- Standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Available adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode.
As an electric vehicle, the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E contributes to a more sustainable future. By eliminating tailpipe emissions, it significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Ford is also committed to sustainable manufacturing practices, using recycled materials in various components of the vehicle. Furthermore, the company offers a comprehensive recycling program for batteries at the end of their life cycle, ensuring responsible disposal.
Range and Charging of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
Range anxiety is a common concern among EV owners, but the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E offers impressive range capabilities. Depending on the selected battery size and drivetrain configuration, the Mach-E can travel up to an estimated range of over 300 miles on a single charge. Moreover, the Mach-E supports both AC and DC fast charging options. With access to an extensive network of charging stations across the country, including Ford’s partnership with Electrify America, recharging the Mach-E is convenient and hassle-free.
Ford has switched to a new battery chemistry for certain Mach-E trims in 2023, specifically those equipped with the smaller, standard-sized pack. The EPA-estimated range for the entire lineup varies from 224 to 312 miles on a single charge, depending on the battery pack size and the number of electric motors. While these figures may not be as impressive as the longest-range Tesla models, they are in line with the range offered by crossover vehicles from other major manufacturers.
All Mach-E models come with fast-charging capability, and Ford states that when the included mobile home charging unit is connected to a 120-volt household outlet, it can add “up to 30 miles of range per night.” If the mobile unit is plugged into a 240-volt outlet, it can recharge up to 80 percent of battery capacity “overnight.” Additionally, Ford offers a more powerful home charging station that requires installation by certified electricians. When connected to this device, the Mach-E’s battery can gain up to 28 miles of range for every hour of charging.
The Mustang Mach-E California Route 1, which is only available with all-wheel drive, boasts the longest EPA-estimated range in the lineup at 312 miles. The midlevel Premium model, equipped with rear-wheel drive and the large battery, follows closely at 310 miles. The Mach-E GT sacrifices range for power, with its range dropping to 270 miles on a single charge. If you choose the GT Performance trim for its additional torque, the estimated range decreases further to 260 miles. The entry-level Select trim, equipped with the Standard Range battery, has a lower estimated range of 250 miles. However, if you opt for the new battery chemistry, the estimated range increases to 250 miles; with the old chemistry, the range was pegged at 224 miles. We have not yet tested the 2024 Mach-E on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, so we have not evaluated its real-world range.

Interior Comfort and Space of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
The interior of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is designed to provide both comfort and practicality. The spacious cabin accommodates five passengers comfortably, with ample legroom and headroom in both rows. The absence of a traditional combustion engine allows for additional storage space in the front trunk or “frunk.” The rear seats can be folded down to create even more cargo space when needed. Premium materials and modern design elements are utilized throughout the interior, creating an upscale and inviting atmosphere.
The battery of the Mustang Mach-E is sandwiched between the interior floor and the bottom of the car, similar to a skateboard, which creates excellent space for passengers and cargo. The streamlined dashboard features an attractive digital gauge cluster and is dominated by a large, vertically oriented touchscreen. There is a pocket underneath the floating flip-up armrest between the front seat passengers, which is spacious enough to hold a purse. In the rear, the load bay provides 29 cubic feet of cargo space, which can be expanded to 60 cubic feet when the back seats are folded down. The list of sleek standard and optional features includes customizable ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, and a front trunk lined with hard plastic that can be used as a cooler and easily cleaned.
Pricing and Availability of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E

We believe that the Premium model is the ideal choice for the Mach-E. This trim offers significant luxury upgrades compared to the less expensive Select trim, and even includes features that are not available on the pricier and more powerful California Route 1. Ford claims that the Premium model, when equipped with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, can provide a driving range of 310 miles. However, we would still recommend opting for the all-wheel-drive version, which slightly reduces the estimated range to 290 miles.
