Overview 2024 McLaren GT
The McLaren GT may bear initials that stand for “grand tourer,” but it is not a typical high-speed cruiser like other cars with the same badge, such as the Bentley Continental GT. Instead, the McLaren retains the company’s tried-and-true mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V-8 setup and serves as a comfort-oriented alternative to the brand’s hardcore supercars. While McLaren did give the GT a more spacious cabin and extra cargo room, it eschews the cushy approach of most grand tourers for a more athletic demeanor, a low-slung body, and a focus on performance.
The McLaren GT’s 4.0-liter V-8 is a detuned version of the engine found in the now-discontinued 720S but still produces a potent 612 horsepower. In our testing, the GT accelerated to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds at 133 mph. While rivals like the Continental GT and Aston Martin DB12 are tuned to be plush cruisers, the GT refuses to give up its McLaren DNA, making it a more compromised take on the traditional grand tourer. But with the British automaker so far holding out on joining the super-SUV party, the GT remains the best option for a daily drivable car bearing the McLaren name.
The McLaren GT remains unchanged for 2024. Last year, McLaren introduced two new colors, Storm Grey and Volcano Yellow, along with an optional branded armrest and a Stealth Badge Package.
Design and Exterior of the 2024 McLaren GT
The 2024 McLaren GT is a visual masterpiece that seamlessly blends elegance with aerodynamic prowess. The sculpted body lines and sleek silhouette exude a sense of speed even when the vehicle is at a standstill. The front fascia features McLaren’s signature dihedral doors, giving it a distinctive and aggressive look. The rear end showcases a stylish integrated spoiler and quad-exhaust system, further emphasizing its sporty nature.
The four exclusive exterior colors of these 4 McLaren models include: Cerulean blue inspired by the P1 supercar; XP Green appears on the F1 racing car prototype; Sarigan Quartz color from Speedtail XP2 model; and Cyber Yellow is based on Volcano Yellow. In addition, the car company has also refined the pearl paint layer to create a sparkling silver-white effect.
The exterior of these special models is equipped with the MSO Black Pack, which includes gloss black mirror caps, window surrounds and exhaust accents. The roof and wheels are also glossy black.

Performance and Engine of the 2024 McLaren GT
Under the hood, the 2024 McLaren GT houses a formidable 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing an impressive 620 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant enables the GT to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 203 mph. The engine is mated to a lightning-fast seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring seamless gear changes and optimal performance.
McLaren equips the GT with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 612 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. As expected from a vehicle bearing the McLaren nameplate, the GT boasts impressive acceleration as one of its many performance strengths.
The company claims that the coupe can go from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, although we have not had the opportunity to test this claim. The car is equipped with launch control and features that optimize acceleration from a standstill. The GT’s ride quality is comfortable enough for everyday driving, and it offers various driving modes that allow you to customize the car’s handling according to your preferences.
According to McLaren, the GT achieves a fuel economy of 15/22 mpg in the city and on the highway. This puts it behind Aston’s DB11, a rival that offers a fuel economy as high as 18/24 mpg. For more information about the GT’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
Advanced Technology of the 2024 McLaren GT
McLaren has equipped the GT with an array of cutting-edge technologies to enhance both the driving experience and safety. The infotainment system features a high-resolution touchscreen display, providing access to navigation, media, and vehicle settings. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported, allowing for seamless smartphone integration. Additionally, the GT comes with advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning.
The GT’s range of tech features includes a 7.0-inch portrait-style touchscreen. The automaker claims that its graphics were inspired by those used on private jets. Standard features include SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, and a four-speaker sound system. An optional 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system is also available.
Luxurious Interior of the 2024 McLaren GT
Step inside the 2024 McLaren GT, and you’ll be greeted by a luxurious cabin that combines comfort with premium craftsmanship. The seats are upholstered in fine leather, providing excellent support during long journeys. The driver-focused cockpit features an ergonomic layout, allowing for easy access to controls and a commanding view of the road ahead. The GT also offers ample storage space, making it a practical choice for grand touring adventures.
This McLaren features dihedral doors, which is an unusual feature among grand tourers. However, compared to other models in its class, the GT has a disadvantage in terms of passenger capacity. While most models in this segment can seat four or more passengers, this coupe can only accommodate two.
The cabin of the GT is more luxurious compared to the typical McLaren, with extensive use of supple hide. Standard upholstery includes Nappa leather, and there are optional materials such as cashmere and microfiber. The cabin can be brightened by an optional panoramic glass roof, which also offers an electrochromic feature that allows it to switch from opaque to varying levels of transparency at the touch of a button.
Unfortunately, luxury features like massaging and ventilated front seats, which are commonly offered by other picks in this class, are not available in this McLaren. On the other hand, the GT does offer generous cargo capacity for this class. At the back, there is a rear luggage bay that provides 15 cubic feet of stowage.
Additionally, there is a front trunk that offers an additional 5 cubic feet, bringing the total cargo capacity to 20 cubic feet. In comparison, a rival such as the DB11 only offers 9 cubic feet of room for your gear. However, it is important to note that due to the placement of the engine, the GT’s rear cargo area can become very hot. After a drive, a laptop stored there was warm enough to cause concern.
Safety Features of the 2024 McLaren GT
When it comes to safety, McLaren takes no shortcuts. The 2024 McLaren GT comes equipped with advanced safety features such as anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and multiple airbags to ensure the utmost protection for both driver and passengers. Additionally, the GT features a reinforced carbon fiber monocoque chassis, providing exceptional crash safety performance.
Driver assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning are not available for the GT. To learn more about the GT’s crash-test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features include a standard backup camera.
Pricing and Customization Options of the 2024 McLaren GT

All models come with LED headlamps, which include rain and light sensors, as well as sequential LED indicators.
