Overeview of the 2024 Ford Bronco
Mud is one of nature’s best remedies, and exploring it in the Ford Bronco is highly recommended. The Bronco is Ford’s response to the long-standing success of the Jeep Wrangler. Similar to the Jeep, the Bronco is available in both two- and four-door versions, and it offers the option of a manual transmission and four-wheel drive. Even the most basic Bronco offers plenty of power with a 300-hp turbocharged inline-four engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission or an available seven-speed manual. For those seeking a more robust powertrain, there is a 330-hp twin-turbo V-6. It’s worth noting that the Bronco Raptor, which is reviewed separately, boasts 418 horsepower but is an entirely different animal. Inside the Bronco, you’ll find a rugged control center that is easy to clean. Whether you’re driving on the street or tackling challenging terrain, the Bronco proves to be both a fun lifestyle vehicle and a capable rock-crawling machine.
Apart from Ford discontinuing the base trim of the Bronco, there aren’t many changes for the 2024 model. The Bronco now comes with a standard 12.0-inch infotainment screen, and the Bronco Badlands trim has been upgraded with a heavy-duty bumper to complement its array of equipment.
Design and Exterior of the 2024 Ford Bronco
The exterior design of the 2024 Ford Bronco pays homage to its predecessors while incorporating modern elements. The boxy shape, wide stance, and bold lines give it a rugged and adventurous appeal. The iconic round headlights and square grille instantly remind us of the original Bronco, making it a true head-turner on the road. Additionally, the removable roof and doors provide an open-air driving experience, perfect for those seeking an immersive outdoor adventure.
The binding bond between the old and new Bronco is most evident on the vehicle’s exterior. The Bronco’s short tail, upright stance, bonnet hook, and square overall look are quintessential to the 1960s, but they also lack modern embellishments that add to the panorama, such as the central locking tray. The center comes with super large 35 inch tires.
Interior and Comfort of the 2024 Ford Bronco
Step inside the 2024 Ford Bronco, and you’ll be greeted by a spacious and well-designed cabin that blends functionality with comfort. The seating arrangements are versatile and offer ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. The interior materials are durable and easy to clean, making it ideal for off-road enthusiasts who love to get dirty. Moreover, the Bronco offers numerous storage compartments to keep your belongings secure during your off-road escapades.
Available with two or four doors, soft tops or hard tops, and removable body panels, the Bronco offers the same open-air possibilities that make the Wrangler a delight for outdoor enthusiasts. The Ford’s interior also boasts a few more innovations compared to the Jeep. For example, the Bronco has a rack built into the top of its dashboard for mounting smartphones and GoPros. It also features frameless doors that are easy to remove. However, these doors’ long side glass can cause the weatherstripping to snag, and they allow more wind noise into the cabin. Despite this, the extended-wheelbase four-door models have enough space on board to store all four doors. Since the exterior mirrors are mounted on the base of the windshield, they remain usable even when the doors are taken off.
When exposed to the elements, the cabin can be protected with available rubberized flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery. Those seeking a more luxurious environment can opt for leather seating surfaces, although the interior’s extensive use of plastic on upper trims may appear cheap. Even in the two-door Bronco, there is ample space in the back seat to comfortably accommodate two adults. The four-door version has an additional third middle seat in the rear and offers slightly more legroom, but most of its extra length is allocated to the cargo area, which is over 50 percent larger than that of the two-door model.
Performance and Off-Road Capabilities of the 2024 Ford Bronco
When it comes to performance, the 2024 Ford Bronco shines both on and off the road. Equipped with a range of powerful engine options, including a turbocharged V6 and a hybrid variant, the Bronco delivers impressive horsepower and torque. The available four-wheel-drive system ensures exceptional traction on various terrains, while features such as electronic locking differentials and sway bar disconnect enhance its off-road capabilities.
The Bronco does not come with eight cylinders. Instead, it offers a standard 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional 330-hp twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6. Both gas engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, although a seven-speed manual is only available with the smaller engine. Unfortunately, neither engine produces an enthusiastic soundtrack. Every Bronco comes with all-wheel drive, and its independent front suspension is more advanced than Jeep’s front stick axle. Other notable options include 35-inch mud-terrain tires, beadlock-capable wheels, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and a sway-bar-disconnect feature.
After our initial driving impressions, we were impressed with the Bronco’s on-road refinement. Not only is its steering more precise than the Wrangler’s, but the Ford handles better overall. Of course, when equipped with the largest tires and softest suspension, there is noticeable brake dive, and its body-on-frame construction is no secret. However, the Bronco is not just a one-trick pony; it is capable of conquering truly treacherous terrain.

Technology and Connectivity of the 2024 Ford Bronco
The 2024 Ford Bronco is not just about brute force; it also excels in terms of technology and connectivity. The infotainment system boasts a user-friendly interface with a crisp touchscreen display, allowing easy access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Additionally, advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control provide peace of mind during your off-road adventures.
Ford’s latest in-dash Sync 4 software powers a 12.0-inch touchscreen embedded in the center of the Bronco’s dashboard. This setup enables over-the-air updates and wireless connections to both the cloud and the user’s smartphone. The infotainment system supports various modern features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. Additionally, the unit can be upgraded with desirable options such as built-in navigation and a more powerful B&O stereo.

Trim Levels and Customization Options of the 2024 Ford Bronco
Ford understands that every adventurer has unique preferences. That’s why they offer multiple trim levels for the 2024 Bronco, allowing buyers to choose the one that best suits their needs. From the base model to the top-of-the-line Badlands edition, each trim level comes with its own set of features and capabilities. Furthermore, Ford offers a plethora of customization options, including various roof configurations, wheel choices, exterior graphics packages, and interior upgrades, making it easy for you to personalize your Bronco to match your style.
The Bronco offers a range of driver-assistance technology, such as automatic high beams and parking sensors. It also includes features that enhance low-speed rock crawling and trail driving. To learn more about the Bronco’s crash-test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features include:
- Forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking are available.
- Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available.
- Lane-departure and lane-keeping assist are available.
Fuel Efficiency of the 2024 Ford Bronco
One concern often associated with off-road vehicles is their fuel efficiency. However, the 2024 Ford Bronco addresses this issue by offering an optional hybrid powertrain that combines electric motors with a gasoline engine. This hybrid variant not only reduces fuel consumption but also decreases emissions without compromising on performance or off-road capabilities. So, if you’re looking for a more eco-friendly option without sacrificing power, the hybrid Bronco is worth considering.
The four-cylinder Bronco equipped with an automatic transmission is the most fuel-efficient option, with ratings of 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. However, if you choose to upgrade to the V-6 version with the Sasquatch package, which includes aggressive, oversized tires, the fuel economy drops significantly to 17 mpg both in the city and on the highway. We conducted tests on our 75-mph fuel economy route using Broncos equipped with both engines and automatic transmissions. The four-cylinder achieved a fuel economy of 22 mpg, while the V-6 achieved 18 mpg.
