Overview 2024 Cadillac Escalade
In the more than two decades since its controversial debut, the Escalade has evolved from a tarted-up GMC Yukon to Cadillac’s most recognizable nameplate. The current-generation Escalade enters its third model year, and although it’s still related to the Yukon and the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, it undeniably has the luxury chops to take on high-dollar competitors such as the Lincoln Navigator, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and the Lexus LX600. In fact, it vanquished those three rivals in a comparison test last year.
Credit the Escalade’s plush ride and secure handling; its powerful 6.2-liter V-8 (a torque-rich turbo-diesel inline-six is also available); and a high-tech interior that features a curved OLED digital display. As before, the Escalade is offered in a standard-length body style or in the longer ESV configuration that has significantly more cargo space behind the third-row seat. Last year, a potent new V-series model joined the lineup as the high-performance flagship, with its supercharged V-8 churning out 682 horsepower.
The Escalade steams into 2024 with no major changes. Presumably, Cadillac is concentrating its efforts on the already announced electric version, the Escalade iQ, which is slated to arrive sometime this year.
Interior Comfort of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade
Stepping inside the 2024 Escalade is akin to entering a lavish private sanctuary on wheels. The interior craftsmanship is second to none, with every surface and material meticulously curated to exude luxury and refinement. Premium leather upholstery, handcrafted wood trims, and brushed metal accents create an ambiance that is both indulgent and inviting. The spacious cabin offers ample room for passengers to stretch out and relax, while the sophisticated ambient lighting sets the perfect mood for any journey.
As a luxury SUV, the 2024 Escalade goes above and beyond to cater to the comfort and convenience of its occupants. The plush, supportive seats ensure that every journey is a first-class experience, while the advanced climate control system maintains an ideal environment regardless of external conditions. From daily commutes to cross-country road trips, the Escalade’s versatility shines through with its generous cargo space and adaptable seating configurations.
As the flagship of the Cadillac lineup, the Escalade enhances the in-cabin luxury experience. Faux leather is used in the base Luxury trim, but all other trims feature genuine leather, with Platinum models receiving extra-soft semi-aniline hides. The inclusion of a leather-covered dash and door panels, aluminum speaker grilles, and adjustable interior ambient lighting creates an upscale ambiance, although some switchgear is shared with lesser GM models. Both a standard and long-wheelbase ESV model are available, with the latter providing more legroom for third-row passengers and additional cargo space.
Cutting-Edge Technology of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade
In true Cadillac fashion, the 2024 Escalade is packed with an array of cutting-edge technology designed to elevate the driving experience. The centerpiece of the tech suite is the industry-leading curved OLED display, which seamlessly integrates the instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single, visually stunning interface. From navigation and entertainment to vehicle settings and performance metrics, the OLED display puts everything at your fingertips with intuitive controls and crisp graphics.
The 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ is equipped with many modern technologies and amenities, including:
- Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system with 38-inch touch screen, supporting
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- AKG Studio Reference sound system with 19 speakers
- Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 air suspension system
- Full-time 4-wheel steering system
- Super Cruise semi-automatic driving assistance system
Cadillac has equipped the Escalade with a host of advanced electronics. The standout feature is the digital dashboard, consisting of three curved OLED displays that stack on top of each other to create a total of 38 inches of combined digital real estate. Some of these displays serve as the driver’s gauge cluster, while the rest project the CUE infotainment system for the driver and passenger.
This array of displays is reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz GLS-class’s large monolithic infotainment setup, but the Escalade’s stacked configuration adds depth and appears more seamlessly integrated than the Benz’s. Other tech features include an augmented-reality navigation system and an optional rear-seat entertainment package that includes two 12.6-inch displays with streaming capability.
Standard features such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also included. Audiophiles will be delighted regardless of which Escalade model they choose, as Cadillac has collaborated with the Grammy-award-winning audio and acoustics company AKG to develop the standard and optional sound systems for the Escalade. A 19-speaker Studio Sound system is standard on the Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury models, while Platinum trims are equipped with the AKG Studio Reference system boasting an impressive 36 speakers.
Power and Performance of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade
Beneath its opulent exterior, the 2024 Cadillac Escalade boasts formidable performance capabilities that defy its size and stature. The available V8 engine delivers effortless power and torque, propelling the Escalade with commanding authority on the open road. Whether cruising along the highway or navigating city streets, the Escalade’s refined suspension and responsive handling instill confidence and composure in any driving situation.
Cadillac’s largest SUV comes with a standard 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and can deactivate half of its cylinders when cruising to save fuel. Additionally, a 3.0-liter diesel inline-six is available. Both engines come with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission, and buyers have the option of choosing rear- or all-wheel-drive setups.
Like its counterparts, the current-generation Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon, the Escalade features an independent rear suspension that provides additional third-row legroom, addressing the compromise in the previous model due to its solid rear axle. Higher-end trims also offer air springs with adaptive dampers. During our test track, the long-wheelbase Escalade ESV with the V-8 engine accelerated to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. The 277-hp diesel engine does not deliver the same straight-line performance as the standard V-8, but for some buyers, the compromise is justified by the improved fuel economy and punchy 460 lb-ft of low-end torque. For Escalade enthusiasts seeking speed, only the V will suffice.
It is equipped with a powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine producing 682 horsepower, enabling the massive SUV to reach 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds at our test track. We were also impressed with the V-8’s power and its deep, resonant sound. The suspension modifications to the SUV improve its handling compared to the standard model, but the Escalade-V still does not feel as agile as competitors such as the Mercedes-AMG GLS63 or the BMW Alpina XB7.
Rear-wheel-drive gas V-8 Escalades have ratings of 14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined. Adding all-wheel drive decreases the highway rating by 1 mpg. The performance-oriented V model is significantly less efficient, with EPA ratings of 11 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. Opting for the turbo-diesel engine makes a significant difference, with EPA estimates as high as 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, an all-wheel-drive Escalade with the optional diesel engine achieved 26 mpg. For further details about the Escalade’s fuel economy, please refer to the EPA’s website.

From adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance to automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, the Escalade provides peace of mind for both driver and passengers. With its advanced safety features working tirelessly in the background, you can focus on enjoying the journey while knowing that you’re well protected.

Pricing and Customization Options of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade
